The owner of a dog who was bitten by a cat in August has filed a lawsuit against the city of Austin and Animal Control after the animal attacked the dog and bit him in September.
According to a news release, James Roussell of Texas was walking his dog around his home on October 2, 2018 when he said a black dog ran into his yard and bit his dog.
Roussell told WOAI he called Animal Control and the dog was taken away.
A week later, Roussel said he found out the dog had been euthanized because of the bite.
“I called the police, and the officer came to my house and said that the dog that attacked my dog was euthanizing and they were going to euthanize the dog,” Rousell said.
Rouessell said the dog has since been rehomed and has since gotten a new cat.
“They have taken a cat to a shelter, but he was the one that attacked me,” Rood said.
The lawsuit says the dog, named Pet Rat, was euthaned because of its bite on Rousselds home.
According the release, Pet Rat is now with the Austin Animal Shelter, where he’s recovering.
“We’re really excited about the new pet that he’s got,” Roulsell said.
