Piers M, the host of The Five, has been tapped to host The Tonight Show with Peter Serapio, a move that is sure to be met with much consternation on Twitter and elsewhere.
On Tuesday night, Serafins website announced the news that he had been hired.
“I’m very excited to announce that I’ve been hired to host the Tonight Show next season,” the host tweeted.
The announcement follows a week-long bidding war that saw a number of celebrities including Madonna and Katy Perry join the show’s bidding.

He has previously hosted the Late Show with David Letterman, which he hosted from 2001-2013.
Serafins previous appearance as host was in 2015, when he hosted the US version of the game show, The Celebrity Apprentice.
His co-hosts on the programme include Jimmy Fallon, Katie Hopkins and John Oliver.
Last year, The Tonight with Peter Sarsgaard hosted a special event to mark the launch of the new BBC One channel, which was later rebranded to BBC One 2.
