Posted February 07, 2019 15:09:20The Manly Titans have signed veteran centre Ben Matuulino to a three-year deal, with a club option for 2019.
The 25-year-old, who has played for seven NRL clubs, played 15 NRL games last season and made his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles.
He is the first player to be signed to the Sea Eagle roster in as many years, having previously played for the Panthers and Bulldogs.
Matulino’s contract with the Titans will carry an option for 2020, with the deal to be paid at the end of the 2019 season.
The Titans signed Matuliano from the Sea Dogs for a reported $2 million in 2017, and the Australian Rugby League club’s chief executive Andrew Fagan said the deal would be a “significant coup” for the club.
“Ben Matuuli is a proven centre who is well-respected in the game and a proven leader for the whole Sea Eagles family,” Fagan told the club’s website.
“His experience will be invaluable to our young players, our coaching staff and our football department.”
Matt Quinlan was named as the club captain last season after leading the Sea Eagles to the finals and earning the club the highest grade in the competition.
The Sea Eagles will travel to Newcastle next Saturday to take on the Newcastle Knights in a rematch of last year’s grand final, with Matulina playing in his first game for the Knights since signing with the club in the off-season.
Matuuli joins the Knights as a free agent following the 2017 season.
